This website and the contact form

This promotional website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from third parties. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message so we can reply. That message is sent to and kept in our own mailbox (info@musevu.com) at our email provider, Hostnet. We use it only to answer you. We do not track you, add you to a newsletter, or share or sell it.

What MuseVu is (and why that matters for privacy)

MuseVu is an app for watching your own media server (Jellyfin) on Android TV, phone and tablet. The app does not host any movies or shows and has no account system of its own. All communication about what you watch happens directly between the app on your device and your own server. We are not a party to it: we cannot see which server you use, what is on it, or what you watch.

What data the app handles, and where it stays

The app stores data exclusively locally on your own device:

• the address of your media server and your sign-in session (token) for that server;
• your app settings (language, subtitle preferences, quality, kids mode PIN);
• your downloads for offline viewing;
• viewing preferences, such as your audio and subtitle choice per series.

This data never leaves your device towards us. If you uninstall the app, it is gone. Your watch history and "continue watching" state are kept by your own server (a Jellyfin feature), not by us.

What we do not do

• No collection of personal data from users.
• No ads and no advertising IDs.
• No trackers and no analytics on your usage.
• No selling or sharing of data with third parties for marketing.

Full transparency: the app contains a technical diagnostics feature (such as crash reports) that works exclusively on devices connected to the developer's own private server, effectively only the developer's own household. If you connect to your own server, this is off for you by definition: nothing is transmitted.

Purchases (MuseVu Pro)

If you buy MuseVu Pro, payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never receive or see your payment details (such as card numbers). To manage your purchase (so that Pro stays active, including after reinstalling), we use RevenueCat as a processor. The following is processed: a randomly generated, anonymous app ID, your purchase and subscription status, and the Google Play purchase receipt. This is technically necessary to make your purchase work (legal basis: performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf; see also the RevenueCat privacy policy and Google privacy policy.

Children

MuseVu is not directed at children. The app does include a kids mode: a parental-control feature that works entirely locally on the device. No data is collected from children, or from anyone else.

Retention

Local data is kept on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Purchase data is retained for as long as needed to keep your purchase working and as long as statutory (tax) retention obligations apply.

Your rights

To the extent we process any personal data about you at all (in practice only for a Pro purchase), you have the right under the GDPR to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. Email info@musevu.com to exercise these rights. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Security

The app communicates with your server over the connection you configure; we recommend using HTTPS. Sign-in data is stored locally on the device using Android security facilities. The app only requests the permissions it needs to function.

Changes

We will update this policy when the app or legislation changes. The current version is always available on this page; substantive changes are mentioned in the app release notes.
