How to use MuseVu

1. Getting started: connect to your server

MuseVu is a player for your own Jellyfin server. First you connect it.

1. Open MuseVu. On first launch you land on the sign-in screen.
2. Enter your Jellyfin server address (for example https://media.yourdomain.com, or a local address like http://192.168.1.10:8096). The field starts empty, so type your own server's address.
3. Enter your username and password and sign in.
4. Or use Quick Connect (easiest on a TV): choose Quick Connect, note the code, then approve that code in Jellyfin (in the app or on the web, via your profile, Quick Connect, enter the code). MuseVu signs you in automatically.

Tip: your server must be reachable from the device, so use the same network or make it accessible over the internet.

2. Choose your profile

If your server has multiple users, MuseVu shows a "Who's watching?" chooser.

1. Tap or select your profile to enter.
2. To switch later: open the More (⋮) menu, then Switch profile.

3. Finding your way around

On phone and tablet the home screen has a bottom bar: Search, Home, Series, Movies and My List. More options live behind the More (⋮) button: Downloads, Settings, Rate the app and Switch profile.

On a TV: press left or Menu on the remote to open the floating navigation rail, then move up and down and press OK.

Going back: use the back arrow at the top on touch devices, or Back on the remote for TV.

4. The Home screen

1. At the top is a large billboard preview: a featured title with a short moving preview.
2. Scroll down through the rows: Continue Watching, New on MuseVu, genres and more.
3. Continue Watching shows a progress bar. Select a title to resume exactly where you left off.
4. Select any poster to open its detail page (see section 6).

5. Searching

1. Open the Search tab.
2. Type a title, or tap the microphone for voice search.
3. Results update as you type. Select one to open it.

6. Opening a title (detail page)

• Play / Resume: start over, or resume where you left off.
• My List: tap the bookmark to save or remove a title (it appears under My List).
• Download Pro: see section 8.
• Series: pick a season, then scroll the episode list. A "Watched" label shows on finished episodes and the progress bar stays full. Each episode has its own play and download Pro button.
• You might also like: at the bottom, more titles in the same genre.

To go back: the back arrow at the top on touch, or Back on the remote.

7. The player: watching a title

While a video plays, tap the screen (or press OK) to show the controls.

Main controls:

• Play and pause
• Rewind 10s and forward 10s
• Next episode (for series, when available)
• Subtitles (CC): pick a subtitle track or turn it off
• Audio: pick an audio track or language
• Lock: lock the screen against stray touches (unlock with the lock icon)
• Rotate: force landscape or portrait (phone and tablet)
• More (⋮): extra options, below
• Back: leave the player

Skip intro and credits Pro: when your server has intro or credit markers, a Skip button appears. Tap it to jump past them. No button means your server has no markers yet.

More (⋮) menu:

• Playback speed Pro: from 0.5x to 2x
• Sleep timer Pro: stop automatically after a set time
• Screen fit: Fit, Fill or Zoom

"Are you still watching?" If the sleep timer stops playback, tap Keep watching to resume. Otherwise it stays paused.

Smart quality Pro: MuseVu adjusts streaming quality automatically to avoid buffering, so there is nothing to do. A brief connection drop reconnects by itself instead of showing an error.

8. Downloads and offline viewing Pro

To download:

1. On a movie's detail page (or an episode), tap Download.
2. Choose the quality:
   • Original quality: the full file, best quality (largest).
   • Smaller file: saves a lot of storage (it shows the estimated size, for example "~1.8 GB"). Great for phones.
3. It downloads in the background (progress on the button, plus a notification). Subtitles are downloaded too, so you can turn them on while offline.

Your downloads:

• Open More (⋮), then Downloads to see everything saved.
• Pro users see a storage indicator ("X GB of Y GB used").
• Remove a download with its delete option, or use Delete all.

Watching offline:

• With no internet, open MuseVu and use the offline entry (on the profile screen or in Downloads). It does not need the server.
• Play any downloaded title. Pick subtitle and audio from the player, just like online.

9. Settings

Open More (⋮), then Settings:

• Subtitle style Pro: size, colour and background.
• Streaming quality: default quality (Auto, High or Data-saver). Auto (adaptive) is Pro.
• Servers Pro: add or switch between Jellyfin servers.
• Kids mode and parental controls Pro: see section 10.
• Language: the interface in 8 languages.

Leave with the back arrow at the top (touch) or Back (remote).

10. Profiles and Kids mode Pro

Switch profile: open More (⋮), then Switch profile, then choose a profile.

Kids mode:

1. In Settings, turn on Kids mode and set a PIN.
2. Choose the age filter. Children then only see allowed titles on home, in search and offline.
3. To leave kids mode, enter your PIN.

11. Casting to your TV Pro

1. Put your phone and a Chromecast or Google TV on the same network.
2. Start a title, tap the Cast icon and choose your TV.
3. Control playback from your phone. Tap Stop casting to bring it back.

12. Picture-in-picture Pro

While watching on a phone or tablet, leave the app (Home button) and the video pops into a small floating window, so you keep watching while using other apps. Tap it to return to full screen.

13. Getting Pro

MuseVu is free. Pro unlocks the features marked "Pro" in this guide.

1. Open the Pro screen (from the Pro card in Settings, the download button, or a promo card).
2. Choose a plan (Monthly, Yearly or Lifetime) and tap Unlock Pro.
3. Complete the purchase through Google Play.
4. Restore purchase: on a new device or after reinstalling, open the Pro screen and tap Restore purchase.
5. Manage or cancel: in your Google Play account, under Subscriptions.

14. Tips and troubleshooting

• MuseVu reconnects on its own after a brief Wi-Fi drop.
• No "Skip intro" button? Your server needs intro or credit markers (the Intro Skipper plugin plus a detection scan).
• Subtitles missing? MuseVu shows the subtitles your server provides. For automatic subtitles, add a subtitle tool to your server so they come along in downloads.
• Buffering or slow to start? Enable hardware transcoding on your Jellyfin server. CPU-only servers struggle with high-bitrate video.
• Cannot connect? Check the server address, and that the device can reach your server.
• A download stuck at "Downloading…"? For the smaller (transcoded) file the server may not report a total size, so the percentage may not tick up. The notification still shows progress and it finishes normally.
